The porn actress and unlikely household name, ‘Stormy Daniels’, who has made major headlines recently regarding her alleged affair with Donald Trump, is launching a cryptocurrency-reward system on her website to encourage users to consume content.
Daniels has apparently teamed up with Vice Industry Token (VIT) to launch a service which was referred to as a “no brainer” by Rob Murray, president of Darkreach Communications, the firm managing Daniels’ site.
“With VIT, everyone is going to make money – from the users on my sites, to myself and the performers. The way the VIT blockchain works, we all get a piece of the token, and the guaranteed genuine data is the icing in the cake.” said Murray.
The scheme will work by rewarding viewers for watching videos in VIT, which can further be used to access premium content or material on other sites which will also accept the token.
Darkreach Communications manages more than 20 other adult websites and is rolling out the scheme through these sites as well.
Bonds between the crypto community and porn are growing. This news comes after last month’s surprise announcement that PornHub would be partnering with Verge to offer a payment method for content using cryptocurrency. The coin’s focus on privacy makes it an ideal method of payment for adult material.
At the time, PornHub vice president, Corey Price stated, “We’re extremely excited to offer our fans the ability to use crypto and think Verge, with its focus on anonymity, is the best option – whether for privacy, convenience or both.”
This news should be welcomed by the crypto-community, as use in connection to adult entertainment is widely regarded to be a significant green light for adoption of new technology. Web-based images and video got their big breaks initially in the world of porn – only after was the technology adopted elsewhere on the web – and YouTube was a world away.
Stormy Daniels has likely picked a good time to partner with VIT. Her widely reported affair with Donald Trump and subsequent legal dispute has raised her profile significantly and traffic on her page is doubtless up. A move like this one could potentially increase her traffic even further and also bring many new users into the crypto community.
