Early cryptocurrency adopter and outspoken Bitcoin Cash evangelist Roger Ver raised concerns about the new Bitcoin Cash upgrade. He also revealed that his relationship with the with self-described Bitcoin creator Craig Wright is not what it used to be.
Did Craig Wright trick Roger Ver?
Roger Ver is the owner of crypto wallet service and bitcoin cash mining pool Bitcoin.com. He recently stated in a newly-uploaded YouTube video that Wright fooled him. Wright, whose firm nChain is the developer of BCH software implementation Bitcoin SV had “fooled” Roger Ver according to the video.
“It’s never easy to admit that someone fooled you. But maybe I’ve been fooled,” Ver said while sharing a screenshot of an email that Wright had allegedly sent him. He got the email after he publicly backed BCH development group Bitcoin ABC — not Wright’s SV — in the debate over the impending BCH hard fork.
Wright allegedly wrote:
“Side with ABC; you hate bitcoin, you are my enemy. You have f–king no idea what that means. You Will. I AM Satoshi. Have a nice life. You will now discover me when pissed off. And, no. You Could have had proof. Your choice. F–k you.”
Why are Roger Ver and Craig Wright fighting?
Ver and Craig have been fighting for several months leading up to the hard fork that Bitcoin Cash is doing. The hard fork will occur on the 15th of November. It was, therefore, no surprise that Ver publicly backed Bitcoin ABC’s vision of Bitcoin Cash or that Craig accused Ver, in a Twitter Post, of wanting to promote child porn.
However, Ver claimed that his spat with Wright is about more than personal insults and political differences. He said that, over time, he had become sceptical about Wright’s technical expertise.
“Some things Craig says, I think are spot on, but other things, he has no clue what he’s talking about,” Ver said, adding later that Wright had refused to engage in a technical debate at a recent BCH mining conference.
Interestingly enough, Craig claims himself to be Satoshi, and even if it is true, Ver says that if Wright did turn out to be Satoshi, it would lower his opinion of Satoshi, not elevate his opinion of Wright.
Bitcoin Cash in the fourth biggest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation with a value of over $10 billion, according to Coinmarketcap.com. Just like Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash has a total coin supply of 21 million and over 17 million are in circulation.
