Augur’s decentralized prediction platform based on the Ethereum Blockchain has got people rushing to rake in stakes on various bets. The migration occurred on July 9th and ever since then had acquired a reasonably good opening with a mouthwatering $20,000 of Ether as the first payout for users who won. About one and a half months later, you’ll never believe what people on Augur got their bets on!
Here are a few of the most exciting markets on Augur-
Does God Exist
Someone posted a betting market with ‘Does God Exist?’ with an expiry of 2020. What is the resolution for such a question? According to the poster it has to be declared by the ‘news media.’
Surprise surprise, no one has staked any money to this weird bet yet!
Vitalik Buterin’s Girlfriend
If you thought Toshi Time’s April Fool’s joke on Vitalik Buterin joining Bitcoin was surprising and funny, wait till you hear this! There is a question which asks ‘Does he have a girlfriend? If not now, when.’
How does the market confirm the answer? Buterin has to verify the relationship, and the couple has to be together for at least one full day. No one has bet on this wager yet, not even Vitalik Buterin!
The references in this one are pretty serious. It is related to Binance’s CEO Changpeng Zhao better known as ‘CZ’ reassuring users of a Youtube video that the crypto holdings were safe.
The question asked was ‘Will the security of https://www.binance.com/ be negatively affected such that there is a newsworthy loss of money?’
It did not create much of a panic, as the betting marketing for this question expired without any bets being placed.
Bitcoin Surpassing $1 million by the end of 2020
If you think not many believe McAfee’s comment about Bitcoin surpassing $1,000,000 by the end of the year 2020, you are wrong. In this bet, 40% voted yes, showing there is a lot of positivity that survives in Bitcoin’s market given the unfortunate bear market throughout the year.
