Satoshi Nakamoto, the most popular pseudonym in the world is still on every cryptocurrency enthusiast’s mind. Many think its Elon Musk? Some even think it’s McAfee himself! A minority of people think he’s already dead. Craig Weight, an Australia computer scientist, claimed he was Satoshi Nakamoto. Hopefully, the international campaign called #findsatoshi will help the whole world unravel the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto.
A German leads the campaign by the name of Neff who lives in Estonia. He feels that finding out who Satoshi Nakamoto is crucial for the future of Bitcoin. Neff explains the reason-
“For the future development of the cryptocurrency, we need to know who invented Crypto and why. Was it really an enthusiast who gave the world an independent currency, or was it a group of people who pursued scientific or purely selfish ends? Or is Bitcoin an invention of a big company or an IT giant who has decided to take a new direction? Can Bitcoin be the state invention designed to control all transactions? “
The FindSatoshi campaign plans to raise $225,000 so that private investigators can be hired around the world to figure out who the person is. He used a Russian crowdfunding site, Boomstarter to raise the money.
At the time of writing, $104,145 has been raised according to Boomstarter’s website which is in the Russian language and specifies the amount raised in Russia’s Ruble which is currently 7,103,400.
According to Boomstarter, detective agencies from USA, Japan, Russia and the UK will be hired.
There is one hint that will give the FindSatoshi campaign a kickstart; it is a person called Laszlo Hanyecz who made the first Bitcoin transaction and knew Satoshi Nakamoto in person. According to Laszlo, Nakamoto was eccentric, odd and gave a weird feeling when he entered the room.
