Cardano Emurgo’s Yoroi Wallet Launches on Android

Emurgo, one of the arms behind Cardano has released its wallet application on the Play Store for Android.

Cardano users should be excited as Emurgo has launched Yoroi, a wallet application for ADA which allows users to store and send ADA to one another securely from their mobiles. The news was announced by Emurgo on Twitter yesterday (January 28th). The first comments from the internet seem to be positive, with users praising the smooth running and clean user interface.

ADA Mobile

So, this marks the real beginning of being able to use ADA on a mobile device. Whilst this was only the Android launch, it seems that the iOS version is in the pipeline as well and will launch imminently.

Emurgo have taken an important step here as mobile wallets are an important step in full integration. The lightweight wallet, which is available in English, Russian, Japanese and Korean does not hold a full copy of the blockchain, allowing it to run much more smoothly on a lower bandwidth. It is described on its download page as “Secure, Fast, Simple”, three important attributes on the road to mainstream offering, and one which the first reviewers seem to be able to vouch for.

A Five-Star Wallet

So far on the Play Store, the reviews are positive. The wallet has 65 reviews, 64 of which are five-star, with the other being four-star. The top written reviews are full of praise. CFAP writes:

“Yoroi is a great wallet. Very simplistic with a minimal interface. Can’t wait for what the future of ADA has in store for us.”

Whilst naturally it will be fans of ADA who will have downloaded the new wallet, it is nevertheless a good sign that users are praising the simple interface and ease of use.

Cardano Price Decline

Despite the launch, ADA’s price has continued to decline, shedding just under ten percent of its value over the last seven days. Whilst there has been slight upward action in the last few hours the overall trend has been downwards for all cryptos. Bitcoin has lost around 3% of its value over the last week, whilst Ethereum and Ripple have both suffered similarly to Cardano, both shedding close to ten percent. The rollout of Yoroi is the latest step in the development of Cardano. The project was mired in internal political struggles for the last two years but looks set to put them behind it in 2019 with the project’s evolution and upcoming launch of the Shelley update.
