HTC Made a Blockchain Powered Mobile

HTC has entered the Blockchain powered mobile race, with its phone called Exodus using an Android operating system entirely powered by blockchain technology.

High Tech Computer Corporation also called HTC is a Taiwanese consumer electronics company. It is a co-founding member of the Open Handset Alliance which is dedicated to the Android mobile operating system.

It is now in the blockchain powered smartphone race along with Huawei and Sirin Labs.

Sirin Labs raised more than $100 million in less than a day for the development of their blockchain smartphone called Finney.

Huawei has given access to a Bitcoin wallet via Huawei’s AppGallery, with the partnership of which is the world’s largest Bitcoin mining pool.

According to reports, HTC’s Exodus will contain a universal wallet, and a ‘built-in hardware enclave’ which will support all sorts of cryptocurrencies and the ethereum powered decentralized applications (dapps).

It is also hoping to create a network of nodes which will be each phone. It means that trade will be facilitated through HTC Exodus phones.

Also, there is a possibility of the device being sold for cryptocurrency.

It makes the whole process of buying the mobile phone, to utilizing the mobile phone to gain maximum benefits from it all cryptocurrency enabled.

HTC’s Exodus landing page reveals,“Our vision is to expand the blockchain ecosystem by creating the world’s first phone dedicated to decentralized applications and security. With the release of the HTC Exodus, we can now make this a reality.”

Phil Chen, who will be running this HTC blockchain powered development told Thenextweb, “Through Exodus, we are excited to be supporting underlying protocols such as Bitcoin, Lightning Networks, Ethereum, Dfinity, and more. We would like to support the entire blockchain ecosystem, and in the next few months we’ll be announcing many more exciting partnerships together.”

HTC is looking at gaining attention through Blockchain, with its diluted market share due to competitors such as Apple and Samsung mobiles. It has tried to venture into other technology businesses such as virtual reality with the name of HTC Vive. However ‘cryptophones’ is what it is betting on in gaining an edge in the mobile phone market.
